How to Add/Remove Drivers. |

Adding and Removing Drivers All hardware devices require software known as drivers to function correctly. Drivers are simply that, software that lets your PC know that the hardware exists and what to do with it. In Windows, you must first un-install (remove), any existing drivers for that device prior to installing a new one. You accomplish this through the Windows Control Panel. Follow these steps to remove/replace a components existing driver. 1. Go to START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL.
2. Click on the SYSTEM Icon, you may have to arrow down to the bottom of the page.
3. Click on the DEVICE MANAGER Tab.
4. Click on the device you you want to remove and then click on REMOVE at the bottom of the screen. Once the device is removed shut down the computer and restart. Windows should use it’s plug-and-play feature to recognize the new device and ask you for a driver. |
